I was excited when I found Nicks website for repairing electronics, I had dash panel from a 325 mini excavator that the temperature gage quit working and 3 push buttons quit. I called and was assured it could be fixed, and send in with $400. They said it would take 3 to 5 days to repair. I called after 1 week and still working on it, they said they had trouble repairing the gage. They said they could send it back without the gage working or wait couple days until the owner Nick gets back. I said I would wait because a I need the gage working. About a week later they called and said the couldn’t fix the gage and sending the panel back. I was disappointed but they did replace the push buttons. I was surprised they couldn’t repair the gage, but that’s electronics for you. I still think they are good and smart electronics repair company. I would use them again, but not for gages. The push buttons worked good. Thanks. I ended up installing a separate temp gauge. Good company.

Hello Bill,

I am sorry we were not able to fully fix your controller base. I did want to clarify something, as we did not clearly communicate the repairs done in your unit. We did in fact replace the stepper motors on the controller with brand new ones. That is the part that allows the needle to rotate, and often the root cause of the issue. However, for your unit, the stepper motor was not the problem. We also often see faults with some of the components in line (usually failed resistors) between the stepper motor and the controller IC that sends the signals to the stepper motor. We replaced those as well, but again, that did not resolve the issue. I did spend a significant amount of time trying to find the root cause for your unit, but unfortunately was not able to. After that additional week period went by, I decided I most likely wouldn't be able to identify the problem, and at that point decided to call it. I am sorry I was not able to figure this one out, but I am very happy to hear you were able to find a workaround.
With that said, I am extremely interested in hearing more from you regarding installing a separate temp gauge. Can you reach out to me and tell me how you did this?
